Trip to Windsor

21 April 2013

It was a lovely surprise to  receive my Award of the Bar to the Silver Acorn. It was with great excitement that I planned to go to Windsor for the occasion along with my son Colin.

We applied for and received tickets for the Matins Service in St George’s Chapel and also to the Queen’s Scouts Parade in the quadrangle.

It was a lovely day and Windsor was alive with Scouters on every corner. As we queued up to go into the chapel the Chief Commissioner for England came along the line for a chat, we also had a word with the Commissioner for Scotland. It was a lovely service and when we came out the sun was still shining. We had a wander around Windsor and made our way back to the Castle to take our places in the quadrangle. It was a great privilege to see the Duchess of Cambridge along with Bear Grylls the Chief Scout walk along the lines of Queen’s Scouts, shaking their hands and talking to them.

We had a wonderful day to remember forever.
